Planning your first visit to St. James UMC

Getting to know each other

We know meeting someone for the first time can be intimidating, and going to a new church for the first time can be nerve-racking. We want to help make your first experience at St. James UMC a great one!

During the pandemic, our goal is to create a clean and safe space to gather and worship with one another. Currently, we are meeting at the same time and same place, every single weekend!

In-person sunday worship

10:00 AM

Gather and worship together with prayer, songs of praise, scripture, and a message.

On Sunday morning, when 10 o'clock temperatures are 55 degrees or higher we will gather for worship outdoors under the pavilion. When the temperatures are below 55 degrees we will worship inside the sanctuary. We will wear masks and practice social distancing in both settings.

online sunday worship

Facebook Premiere

If you are planning to worship with us online, we encourage you to worship via Facebook Premiere at 10:00 AM on Sundays. You will get to worship online as a congregation and have a chance to say "Hello!" to one another in the chat.

Church Website

On Sunday mornings, starting at 8:00 AM you can find the worship service right here on our website. You can worship at any time from anywhere.

"This is a family church where we truly care about each other in a loving Bible centered community." - Leighton

What can I expect?

In efforts to keep our church family safe, at this time a St. James service is about 30 minutes in length.

In our worship service the music is led my members of our praise band "Master Plan", other vocalists and musicians of St. James, and Pastor Paik. We email our congregation on Saturday, the day before worship with a worship aid. Written on the worship aid is the order of service. Follow along with scripture and songs of praise. If you'd like to follow along, we ask that you print this aid and bring it with you to worship. As a church we are trying to limit the amount of things being handed out to prevent any spreading of germs. After the music portion of service is complete, our pastor will share with us a message from the Scriptures in her sermon.

We take communion on the first Sunday of the month. We practice open communion here, meaning that no one can earn a seat at the table - everyone is invited (gluten-free option available). We are currently using tiny individual cups with wafers for communion, which you can pick-up yourself as you arrive for worship.

Every Sunday we take up an offering. If you are a first time visitor do not feel required to give, however if you feel called to or feel that St. James UMC is the place for you, then we thank you for your gifts. You can also give online or by text message.

Sundays at St. James UMC are exciting, casual, and relaxed. Come as you are and expect to feel welcomed as our guest.

We believe that kids should have a blast at church every single week - and at St. James, we make this a priority. The other thing we make a priority is your children’s safety. During these times we are currently not having in-person Sunday school. We encourage your kids to join you for worship. Once a month we are posting a children's Sunday school lesson on our Children's Ministry page. We hope that you and your kids will enjoy participating in our online Sunday school.
